In May of 2017, Belmond, one of the most highly regarded purveyors of luxury travel experiences in the world, quietly acquired the storied and iconic Cap Juluca resort, located on Maundays Bay on the island of Anguilla. The resort is located on one of the island’s most spectacular beaches, which boasts crystal clear, turquoise waters and an expansive swath of sand that is as soft and white as powdered sugar (well, almost).
While Belmond immediately began to operate the property, welcoming guests in the impeccable way with their signature touch of magic that has made Belmond the hotelier of choice for the most discerning travelers, it was clear that Cap Juluca was in need of some loving attention to restore it to the Caribbean crown jewel that garnered it a loyal following among the world’s elite.
After the 2017/2018 festive season ended, Belmond embarked upon an extensive renovation, with design helmed by Rottet Studio, to realize the first full reimagining of a property in the brand’s history. Upon reopening in mid-November of 2018, guests were able to experience the Belmond Cap Juluca in its all of its unfettered glory once again. The updated aesthetic of the resort is meant to call to mind a subtly glamorous and airy private residence which is intimately furnished with a lovingly curated selection of treasured artifacts that its owners have collected during their travels over the years.
Guestrooms, Suites & Villas
The airy and eclectic residence-style resort now has a capacity of 121 rooms, ranging from private rooms, to suites, to suites furnished with their own individual pools, to an assortment of private pool villas. All guestrooms and suites have private verandas or balconies, and all rooms have been updated to the highest contemporary standards of luxury while maintaining an ambience of lightness and casual elegance.
For the first time in its history, the Belmond Cap Juluca offers a seamless pool to beach experience with “CAP’s Cool Pool” and outdoor terrace, which features an infinity-edge pool, a shaded botanical courtyard with a deep green Moroccan-tiled pool, and spacious, tree-lined, sunbathing decks. The new arrangement will offer guests the ability to gather and socialize poolside while soaking in panoramic views of one of the most beautiful beaches in Anguilla.
An array of eateries, ranging from fine-dining at Pimms to casual beachside fare at Cap’s Shack, ensures that there is a perfect place for guests to break bread and socialize, no matter the occasion.
The new Spa and Fitness Centre are located on the private headland that is part of the Belmond Cap Juluca property. Situated amongst manicured gardens, the Spa offers panoramic views of crystal blue waters and is thoughtfully designed to ‘disappear’. Blending seamlessly into the surrounding landscape, the Spa embodies the “leave no trace” mentality, and it is the only spa on Anguilla to offer an intimate and harmonious experience with nature away from resort life. In the spirit of holistic wellness, the spa houses a yoga pavilion, gym and seven all-suite treatment villas befitted with private terraces and seaside seating.
The experts are Belmond are masters at transforming the hospitality experience into something deeply personal, intimate and transformative, and Belmond Cap Juluca is no exception. For more information and bookings, visit Belmond’s page here.
